Blue Flannel Shirts

I don’t like puppies and kittens

and dolly’s that wet

Give me road graders, lego’s

and new erector sets

Keep your ribbons and bows

your pink frilly skirts

I like old jeans and worn boots

and blue flannel shirts

Don’t ask me to tea parties

with squishy mud pies

I’m building skyscrapers, bridges

And ships that will fly

I won’t wait for some knight

on his elegant horse

I dream that I’m famous

and rich of course

I’ll be a doctor or lawyer

I can’t wait till then

My friends will say proudly

I knew her when!
